Privacy Policy for Allroom

Last updated: October 27, 2026

Allroom ("the app", "we", "us") is an app that turns your phone into a remote control for smart TVs on your home network.

1. No account, no cloud

The app does not require an account and does not have a cloud backend. Your paired TV list, settings, and app shortcuts are stored only on your device (a local database and, for TV pairing secrets, your device's secure/file storage) — they are never uploaded anywhere by us.

2. Local network access

To find and control your TV, the app connects to devices on your own home Wi-Fi network (e.g. your TV, over protocols like mDNS/SSDP discovery and direct TV connections). It does not send this traffic, or any information about your home network, to us or to any third party.

3. Error reports (optional, off by default)

If you choose to report a problem from the app's Settings screen, you decide what to include, and nothing is sent unless you explicitly confirm. This feature is off by default — error reports are only sent if you actively use "Report a problem" and tick the consent box. We use Bugsink (a self-hosted error-tracking tool) to receive these reports.

4. Voice typing (optional)

If you use the voice-typing feature, your phone's own built-in speech-recognition service (Android's or iPhone's own system feature, not our servers) may process your speech to convert it to text. This only happens while you are actively using voice typing, and the app shows a one-time notice before first use. Please don't say sensitive information (like passwords) out loud while using this feature.

Voice typing uses your phone's microphone. Android asks for your permission before the microphone is used for the first time, and the microphone is only used while voice typing is active. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your phone's settings.

5. Transferring your TV list between devices (optional)

You can share your TV list with another device using a QR code or an exported file. This transfer happens directly between your devices (or via a file you choose to send) — not through our servers. By design, this file never contains TV pairing secrets (such as device keys or certificates); it only contains the TV's name, brand, local network address, and room. Someone who gets hold of this file cannot use it to connect to your TV.

Scanning a QR code uses your phone's camera. The camera is only switched on while the QR scan screen is open, and Android asks for your permission first. The camera image is processed on your phone only to read the code — it is not saved and is not sent to us or anyone else. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your phone's settings.

6. Purchases (optional "Pro" upgrade)

There's an optional "Pro" upgrade (free tier: the full remote on up to 2 TVs — every remote mode, keyboard, voice typing, sharing, diagnostics, themes, and all accessibility features; Pro: the home-screen widget, notification/lock-screen remote, quick-settings tile, volume-key control, sleep timer, scheduled scenes, rooms/scenes and broadcasting to All, and unlimited TVs). Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store or Google Play, using RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to manage entitlements. We do not see or store your payment card details — the app store and RevenueCat handle that.

RevenueCat's SDK sends nothing at all until you open the "Go Pro" screen or tap "Restore purchases" — if you never make a purchase or open that screen, no data ever reaches RevenueCat. What RevenueCat actually collects (per its official documentation): your purchase history and your region/currency (not your payment card). RevenueCat does not collect precise location (only locale/currency), your files, photos/videos, in-app messages, browsing history, or crash/diagnostic logs. This feature is implemented in the app's code; the real store products/prices have not yet been created in Play Console/RevenueCat (this section will be updated once they are).

7. Usage analytics (on by default outside the EU/EEA/UK, optional, no ads)

We use Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics) to see things like which screens are opened, whether finding and pairing with your TV succeeded, which features get used, and what kind of errors happen — so we can see where people get stuck. We never send your TV or room names, network details, pairing codes, IP/MAC addresses, or anything you type or share. We never send an advertising ID and never use the data for ad personalization — the app has no ads.

If your phone's region is set to a country in the EU, EEA, or UK, we ask once, before anything is sent, whether you want to share this usage info; nothing is sent until you say yes, and saying no has no effect on any feature. Everywhere else, usage info is sent by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings > Privacy > "Share usage info" — turning it off also resets this phone's analytics identity. Region is estimated from your phone's own language/region setting, not from your IP address or precise location; this is an approximation, not a guarantee (someone travelling, using a VPN, or with a different region setting on their phone may be classified differently).

8. Children

The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, once the app is published, the in-app link described in section 10.
